Clear Out The Compound

Sergeant Michael "Psycho" Sykes reached what I (Nomad) quickly recognized as the Pacific Shores facility. I remembered the facility very well, as this was the area I reached just before heading into the mine, which took me into the heart the aliens (or things) living inside that huge rock formation.

At the time, Psycho had no idea of my whereabouts, or Prophet's status. In fact, all both of us knew at the time was that Aztec and Jester were both dead - which happened when Psycho, Prophet and me (Nomad) were all still together as a team.

Instead, Psycho was pushing toward Team Eagle in search of Colonel Lee of the Korean People's Army (KPA) and a mysterious container which appeared to contain similarities to these machines flying about the island.

Looking around the compound, it appeared that the machines were working on the facility. In the image below taken from Psycho's helmet-mounted camera, one of the machines is lifting a truck that weighed no less than 100 tons! Neither Psycho, nor Team Eagle or JSOC had a clue why they were moving those heavy machines around.

JSOC confirmed that Team Eagle was at the entrance to the mine. The mine should lead toward the path needed to meet up with Colonel Lee and that container. However, Psycho needed to clear out that area as much as possible on his way to the mine entrance. After all, that would lead to less distractions in trying to break a hole in the mine's sealed entrance.

Psycho pulled up his radar map and could tell that the path of hostiles left behind still remained in their areas. The good news was, they did not follow him into this area, for a sneak attack - at least, not yet. The bad news was, there were quite a few things between him and that mine shaft.

The Gauss Rifle was the only real choice and Psycho knew it. He had to make sure each shot was planned correctly - even if that meant taking some damage during the process. The bigger things above would have to wait for a nearby rocket launcher to be found later - so maintaining cover from above was required to take down the smaller machines.

Eventually, Psycho made it to the mine entrance. Several smaller machines were taken out in the process and now he was ready to assist Team Eagle.

They were setting up shop and preparing for battle while one of the team members were planting explosives at the mine's entrance. Now it was time to take down the bigger machines from above.
