Head to the Beach Resort

Sargent Sykes (aka Psycho) descended into the valley as the Sierra air strike team lit up the area with an array of bombs. In fact, Psycho was not sure if he heard the sound from the bombs before or after he felt the ground rock all around him.

Ground support was not something Psycho enjoyed doing - nor was it something he did well in the time that I've known him. Me, I did not mind the effort, since I was more apt to go stealth and ease myself into position - paint a target and watch the fireworks from safe harbor.

Psycho on the other hand, was the guy who preferred to max out his Nanosuit in armour mode, make sure all weapons are fully loaded, then take the area by charge. That was just the way he rolled. At least, until he arrived on this island.

Maybe it was the blast from that charge earlier or the events with me earlier in the mission, but providing ground support for the Sierra air strike team put Psycho into a mode more similar to mine. Yes, he was taking his time, moving slow and keeping a low profile.

Psycho managed to take out a handful of Korean People's Army (KPA) troops before reaching a makeshift fort half way down the hill toward the ocean.

Here, he used the stealth mode of the Nanosuit to check for any remaining KPA troops. The only ones near by were in a Hummer patrolling the area. A great position and a few quick shots eliminated the gunner and the driver - leaving the Hummer in great shape for potential use if needed.

JSOC announced that the KPA had taken over a beach resort and transformed the area into a base. How amazing that just a short time ago tourists were likely spending a decent amount of their annual income to sit in these very seats and watch a premium sunset.

It was Psycho's next goal to eliminate the KPA troops in the area, clearing the zone for potential use for the Delta Force and their supporting cast.

Moving down the hill under the cover of stealth was slow and steady. Psycho knew I would be proud. Along the way, he noted approximately 10 KPA troops in the area. Using the silencer, Psycho was able to knock out the troops inside the beach resort, then use the bar typically reserved for adult beverages and strength mode to eliminate support troops as they headed in his direction.

A quick walk around the area, showed that the area was clear. In the image below, you can even see the shadow of a proud Psycho walking towards his next way point.

JSOC expected the KPA to have some computers in the vicinity which may contain valuable data regarding Colonel Lee's reason for controlling this section of the island. Using satellite images from above, JSOC placed a marker on some heavy trailers near the area.

Psycho's next goal is to reach that area and gather any intel that exists on those legacy computers ... often referred to as "next gen" by the KPA. Trade and Technology Embargoes - see they can be a great thing.

Clear the Path & Gather Intel

The heavy trailers in the area were stocked with quite an arsenal of weapons. Psycho dumped his pistol and picked up two AY69 short-range micro machine guns. Now, this is the Psycho I know and have gone into battle with for the last few years.

The intel computer was nearby, but so were a bunch of KPA troops. Psycho wasn't near as skilled at hacking computer systems as me, so he opted to clear the path forward before gathering the intel from the system. After all, blazing a path is what he did and what he did very well.

Psycho was also great at hijacking vehicles. So taking control of a KPA Armored Scout Vehicle (ASV) was not a problem at all.

The ASV was loaded and was in great shape. A perfect path clearer for those who want to protect themselves. Even a renegade like Psycho would prefer to blaze a path under cover than to do it with only the protection of the Nanosuit.

To clear the path, Psycho had to eliminate a handful of KPA troops as well as another ASV and a couple of Hummers.

The KPA gunners were a bit better at using their vehicles than Psycho. So after the last vehicle was destroyed, Psycho jumped from the ASV, since it was pretty much ready to explode after one more hit. Maybe it was from him driving on the left side of the road, that crazy Brit!

On foot, Psycho cleared an area previously taken out by the Sierra air strike team, where only a few gunners remained. After making sure the area was clear, he headed back to the trailer and began to hack the KPA computer.

JSOC reminded Psycho how to hack these ancient systems. Within a few minutes the system was wide open and data was fully downloaded. The information gathered was far from good news.

Evidently, Colonel Lee had requested a delivery from Yongbyon-kun, which made us all shiver. We all realized that was where the KPA housed their nuclear research site. We realized that from previously unsuccessful covert missions in that very area over the last 5 or so years.

JSOC began to push further instructions to Psycho, but their transmissions were being jammed with some broadcast propaganda. The source of the jamming was nearby and easy to locate.

Before moving forward, Psycho had to reach and take down the radio station located on a small peninsula. This might be right up Psycho's alley too - one way in, no way out!
