USS Maine

The expectation was that Colonel Lee of the Korean People's Army (KPA) was on the other side of the tunnel that Sergeant Michael "Psycho" Sykes and Eagle Team had penetrated only moments earlier. That turned out only to be partially true. Lee was on the other side of the tunnel's entrance, but he was not within striking distance.

Instead, the tunnel lead to another harbor - frozen like the rest of the island. Directly in front of Psycho stood the USS Maine, locked into several chunks of glacier-like ice.

Protecting the area, were KPA troops, outfitted in Nanosuits of their own. Psycho was amazed at how many of their suits were in possession by the enemy. Their weapons seemed to be just as strong too. Mostly using high powered shot guns or sub machine guns with laser pointers.

With snipers on the ship, gunners patrolling the area and some other KPA troops using their cloak functionality to hide in the shadows, the JSOC recommended route to board the USS Maine was certainly going to be interesting.

Team Eagle stayed behind, helping to take out the snipers positioned at the top of the ship. That gave Psycho the ability to take down some KPA troops with his Gauss Rifle and later his rocket launcher to destroy an Armoured Scout Vehicle (ASV). The path was clear to enter the USS Maine.

Emerson from JSOC indicated that Team Hawk was putting up a position inside the ship to assist with nabbing Colonel Lee. Psycho's next goal was to meet up with Team Hawk.

Once inside the ship, he was met with several heavily armed KPA troops, who were using grenade launchers loaded with EMP grenades. After the first hit turned Psycho's world white, he wished he would have kept his grenade launcher instead of swapping it for a sub machine gun.

Psycho used his speed to reach the second level of the ship, then knock out the KPA troops one by one as they tried to locate him. Certainly, this was not the favored approach, but it was only hope against those EMP grenades. One more hit by such a grenade would certainly end his mission far sooner than expected.

With the area clear, Psycho noticed there was only one way out of the area, that wasn't frozen completely solid.

Interestingly enough, just above the door was a huge hole in the USS Maine. Psycho wondered if that is the kind of damage the exosuit can do to another machine? Or was this hole from something bigger? Was there more, bigger things to come?

The door led to multiple hall ways and the path led into another area where more EMP-loaded KPA troops were stationed. Speed and skill, along with use of some of Psycho's grenades eventually cleared the room.

No more noises were reaching Psycho's Nanosuit. His next stop was to reach Hawk Team.

When Psycho reached the milestone on his map. He saw Hawk Team, but they were lifeless. Something had taken them out. Now it was up to Psycho to head toward Colonel Lee. It was up to him to pursue him alone ... again.

With no time to wait for Eagle Team to catch up, Psycho decided it was time to head down the ice and catch that container.
