The area above the huge rock was still glowing into the skies above. There was certainly a lot of power and energy being dispersed above the mountain of lead - which was probably a sign of things to come. Not so great things.
Psycho had taken up a defensive position at the entrance to the Pacific Shores mining facility. he reloaded his Gauss rifle, compliments of Team Eagle. He placed two extra rocket launchers next to him and armed himself with a third. Down the scope he looked only to see the first (of possibly several) flying machines heading toward him and Team Eagle.
On the ground, another exosuit walked toward the mine entrance. Obviously, the machines did not want any of them to get into that mine shaft. They wanted to end our quest right here.
With rockets launching, ground-mounted machine guns blazing, the machines were taken down one by one, all while Dane continued to work on planting the explosions at the mine's entrance. It sure seemed like it took Dane quite a while to plant the explosives ... but of course, time was altered by the intense battle taken place behind his back.
The wave of machines stopped just as Dane blew a hole in the mine entrance. The path was cleared and Psycho was given the order to proceed first.
JSOC instructed Team Eagle to remain behind in order to keep the shaft clear. So, again, it was Psycho walking the path ... alone.
