Massive Attack!

The automated train carrying Sergeant Michael "Psycho" Sykes and a container filled with one of the alien-like machines (which had emerged from inside a rock mountain on the island) came to a stop in the middle of the swamps. JSOC confirmed the stop was not a scheduled stop and it appears that the stop was not expected by anyone - including the Korean People's Army (KPA).

The container appeared to glow in the swampy skies a bright blue color. JSOC indicated activity was rising on their meters surrounding the area. Most likely, more of those machines were heading in this direction. Time for a massive attack, Psycho thought.

With the crate glowing, several of the smaller machines raced toward the area first. They appeared to be focused on the crate - potentially wanting to either free the machine inside the crate or destroy it from falling into human hands. The machines were surprised when Psycho came after them with his Gauss rifle - knocking them down with one shot and destroying them completely with a second.

Then, the bigger machines came to play. The Gauss rifle could not take down these machines quickly enough, so Psycho grabbed a nearby Minigun. With a magazine capacity of 500, the Minigun was able to take down the bigger machines far easier than the other weapons at Psycho's disposal.

After the first machine was destroyed, the second one came at Psycho with vengeance. Certainly these machines did not understand feelings ... or did they? Psycho ran out of ammo from the Mini gun before he was able to fully take down the machine, but quick use of the Gauss rifle finished the job. Psycho had a front row seat to watch this machine explode.

With the machines cleared, the massive attack was over. Psycho planned to check the machines for further intel on their design, but the train again started moving.

After much convincing, JSOC allowed O'Neill to assist with the mission. The crate could not fall into the hands of the Korean People's Army (KPA). O'Neill was in route with a VTOL that had the capability to extract the crate from the train.

If worse came to worse, the crate needed to be destroyed using the explosives Psycho maintained on the back of his Nanosuit. The orders were simply to plant the C4 explosives, arm them, get far away and then detonate. The KPA were not to get that container.

Then the train stopped over a bridge of water. In the distance, Psycho could hear an air craft approaching. It was a helicopter, but it was not a VTOL.

Sounds like the KPA were coming to get their prize.

Confrontation at the Bridge

Colonel Lee of the Korean People's Army (KPA) arrived to the stopped train before O'Neill in his VTOL. With the chopper hovering within range, he called out to Psycho - accusing him of stealing something which is not his.

Psycho tried to get a read on O'Neill's position, but his radio cry was not returned. Psycho had the explosives planted and held the detonator in his hands. Even if he died in the process, he was going to do everything in his power to keep that crate out of Lee's hands. It seemed like a perfect time to pull the trigger, then try and take out the chopper with the rocket launcher on his back.

To make matters worse, Lee pointed toward another KPA chopper. This one contained a handful of KPA troops and one US Marine. Before Psycho could react, the KPA troops pushed the Marine out of the chopper and directly toward the icy waters below. Psycho reached out and caught the Marine with the strength mode of the Nanosuit enabled.

They hit the bridge as part of the fall and Psycho was able to hold on with his left hand. The Marine was hanging on to Psycho's other hand and the detonator for the explosives was just a few feet away - resting on the tracks. The strength of the Nanosuit faded as the energy drained to zero. Psycho felt the full weight of the Marine hanging on his other arm.

Lee had hooked the container onto his chopper. It was now or never. He instructed the Marine to let go and Psycho jumped up to grab the detonator. He pushed the trigger just before he hit the water below - close to where the Marine had landed.

The train exploded a split second later and Psycho watched from under the water. He quickly swam to recover the Marine and avoid the steel from the bridge as it collapsed around them.

The Marine was motionless. Psycho tried everything he could to bring him back to life, but he was not able to do so. He now regretted forcing the soldier to let go, but wondered if Lee would not have killed them both once the chopper fully secured the container.

Psycho was stunned from the events. He heard the choppers vacate the area, with the container in hand.

Was it too late? Had Psycho missed his opportunity to stop Lee and maintain full control of the container?

He remained motionless, saying a brief prayer for the lost US Marine and whatever form of family he maintained somewhere else on this planet.

Soon, he would have to communicate the events to JSOC.
